Welding Chair Project

Materials : Salvaged old chair back, left-over steel and a MIG welder.

"Using an old salvaged chair back. We created a stool from left-over steel from another project. The steel was welded together using the MIG welder."

Manual Espresso Machine Project

Materials : Aluminium bar stock and metal lathe.

"My first lathe project! A lever - type espresso machine. With a chamber and piston, turned on the metal lathe. The design was inspired by an 'instructables' online post." - Andrew

Pennies Lamp Project

Materials : Pennies, silver solder, cut pipe, bernzomatic torch, spot welding and a light bulb.

"I purchased 3kgs of Pennies. And 5 sticks of Sil-Fos 15% silver. Joining the pennies was tricky. I originally made a metal ‘gig’ to join the coins together; but it sucked up too much heat and the brazing didn’t take.

In the end, the aluminum angle plate worked best as a solution. Once you get the correct amount of heat into the coil of the Sil-Fos; it joins the coins nicely."

Metal Clamps Project

Materials : Mostly existing scrap in the Hackland metal rack. Only purchase was all the lock nuts. Cutoff wheel, lathe, mill and tap wrench.

"I've been doing a lot of glue ups, lately. One big pain I've encountered. Is trying to hold the boards together, length wise. Keeping them in line, all the way across.

Normally, you need many clamps and alignment boards. These metal clamps I created, will pull in both directions as you tighten them. Solving this problem."

Casting Bronze Project

Materials : Wax, silicone molds, ceramic, slurry, sand, furnace and bronze.

“Over the last few years. I have moved away from buying gifts and into making them. I started this project after seeing one of ‘Alex Steele’s’ casting videos. And decided I would start, in much the same way. By carving wax.

We then made silicone molds of my wax originals. This way we could make many more. If anything went wrong in the casting process. After some clean up and some polishing. They look really good!" - Unknown

Longtail Cargo Bike

Materials : Old MTB frame and a trampoline.

"An electric cargo bike. Capable of carrying lots of batteries and lots of stuff. Longer than most longtails. Still under construction." - Michael
